What Do the Kids Say? Issues in Comparing Parental and Child Reports of Family Dynamics

Abstract:  Despite a large body of social science literature about recent changes in family demography and potential associations with child well-being, the vast majority of this research is based on proxy reports about children’s lives. In this talk, Bzostek will describe her current research agenda using children’s own reports instead of/in combination with proxy reporters, highlighting some of the conceptual and methodological complexities involved in conducting this type of research.
